What is Cold Case?
Cold Case is a data detective challenge where teams receive a dossier on a failed startup. Using data analysis, logical deduction, and investigative thinking, they must uncover the key mistakes that led to the failure.
Teams analyse clues hidden across datasets, financial reports, and market data, then present a compelling case — arguing what went wrong and how data-driven decisions could have saved the company.
Rules & Guidelines
- Teams of 1-4 members only. Solo entries are not accepted.
- All team members must be currently enrolled students.
- A case dossier (dataset + context) will be provided at the start.
- Permitted tools: Excel, Python(NumPy, Pandas, etc), R, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Each team must submit a final report within the time limit.
- Judging criteria: Accuracy of analysis, strength of argument, data use, quality of creative communication.
- No sharing of findings between teams — violation leads to disqualification.
- Video Submition should be in MP4 format.
- Organiser's decision on all scoring is final.
