What is Data Desk?

Data Desk puts you in the shoes of a data analyst at a fast-paced company. Teams receive real-world business datasets and must extract actionable insights, identify key trends, and present strategic recommendations — all under a ticking clock.

This isn't just about crunching numbers — it's about telling a compelling data story. You'll be judged on the quality of your analysis, the clarity of your visuals, and the strength of your business narrative. Think fast, analyse smart, decide sharp.

Key Rules

  • Teams of 2–4 members per group.
  • Business dataset provided at the start of the session. No external data.
  • Permitted tools: Excel, Google Sheets, Tableau (free version), Python (optional).
  • Each team must submit a presentation (max 5 slides) at the end of the event.
  • Judging criteria: insight quality, visualisation, business relevance, and delivery.
  • Presentation time: 5 minutes per team + 2 minutes Q&A.
  • No plagiarism or use of pre-built analyses — all work must be done live.
  • Organiser's decision on scoring and rankings is final.
