What is Data Heist?
Data Heist is Datacron 2026's flagship multi-stage team challenge. Participants dive into a thrilling world where data strategy meets high-stakes decision-making. Teams decode hidden clues, strategize in a live auction round, and then analyse real-world datasets to outsmart rival teams and claim victory.
Each round tests a different set of skills — analytical thinking in the decode phase, financial acumen and team coordination in the auction, and deep data interpretation in the final analysis stage. Only the sharpest minds rise to the top.
Key Rules
- Teams of 2–4 members. Solo participation is not allowed.
- All team members must be currently enrolled students.
- Three rounds: Decode → Live Auction → Data Analysis.
- No use of AI tools during the Live Auction and Decode rounds.
- Permitted tools: Excel, Python(NumPy, Pandas, etc), R, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Decisions made during the auction are final and non-reversible.
- The organiser's decision on scoring and tie-breakers is final.
